On Tuesday, November 24th 2015 at approximately 1040hrs Lt. Jesse Cohen #354 and P.O. David Moscaritolo #395 were traveling northbound on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in the Alpine NJ Section on general patrol. During this time, they observed a gray Nissan X-Terra with NY registration tailgate a vehicle and then change lanes without a signal several times. A motor vehicle stop was initiated and shortly thereafter P.O. Donald Liu #396 and P.O. Travis Philhower #397 arrived to assist.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Officers as the operator, Mr. Robert Sciolo, a 48 year old white male from Bronx NY to exit the vehicle where he was searched with negative results. The passenger, Mr. Terrance Quinn, a 48 year old white male from Bronx NY was also asked to exit the vehicle and then searched with negative results.
During the investigation, P.O. Moscaritolo conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, he located three bags of marijauana totaling approximately 84 grams of marijuana as well as smoking pipes and various counterfeit DVD’s. Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the NJ Headquarters for processing. It was discovered during the arrest that Mr. Sciolo also had open traffic warrants.
Lt. Cohen and P.O. Moscaritolo continued their investigation with both subjects. The result of the ongoing investigation resulted in obtaining search warrants for two residences, one in Bronx NY and one in Maybrook NY. With the assistance of the NYPD, the search of Mr. Quinn’s residents yielded the seizure of 648 prescription pills including Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Xanax, and Adderall. Additionally, 38 large marijuana plants were discovered inside a portion of the home designed for cultivation.
On November 25th, 2015 with the assistance of the NY State Police, a search warrant was executed at a home in Maybrook NY which yielded approximately 40 marijauana plants in a room designed for cultivation.
