On Monday, March 8th 2016 at approximately 1530hrs Lt. Jesse Cohen #354 and P.O. Timothy Conboy #393 were traveling through the northbound Mobil gas station when they observed a white Mazda with NY registration for tinted windows. (The Mobile station is located in the Englewood Cliffs NJ Section of the Palisades Interstate Parkway). The officers approached the vehicle and upon asking the operator for his identification and registration, they were able to detect a strong odor of raw marijuana emanate from the windows. With a total of three (3) occupants in the vehicle, an additional unit was requested and P.O. Jeffrey Lamboy #384 and Sgt. Fabricio Salazar #362 responded to assist.
The occupants (listed below) were asked to exit the vehicle and searches were conducted. During the search officers discovered a piece of luggage which contained seven (7) large vacuum bags of marijuana weighing a total of six (6) pounds. All of the occupants denied ownership and were subsequently arrested. It was later determined that the operator (Mr. J. Hess) and his passenger (Mr. R. Hess) had picked up the third passenger (Mr. Tyler C. Paez) from JFK Airport who had just flown in from California with the contraband. All parties were enroute to a Newburg NY destination when stopped by our officers.
