On Sunday, August 2nd, 2015 at approximately 1455hrs P.O. Gregory Kimbro #368 was traveling northbound on the Palisades Interstate Parkway north of the State Line Lookout when he observed a 2013 blue Chevy Cruz in the right lane with a cracked windshield and an obstructed license plate.  P.O. Kimbro stopped the vehicle just north of the lookout and approached the vehicle on the passenger’s side.  Once at the window, he could see that the vehicle was occupied by one hispanic male.  The operator lowered his window and P.O. Kimbro was able to detect an odor of burnt marijuana.  He asked the operator for his license and registration and asked the operator to exit the vehicle.

Once outside the car, P.O. Kimbro obtained a consent to search the vehicle.  During a search of the vehicle, he located a burnt marijuana cigarette on the driver’s floor as well as smoking paraphernalia in the center console.  As P.O. Kimbro searched the vehicle’s trunk, he located a black plastic bag whcih contained three (3) large clear plastic bags.  Each plastic bag contained numerous folded wax paper envelopes with suspected Heroin.  The operator, now identified as Mr. Carlos L. Colon, a 24 year old male from Lake Huntington NY, was placed into custody and later transported to police headquarters for processing.

The investigation determined that there were a total of 1198 bags of Heroin which totaled 13.5 ounces and has an estimated street value of $20,000.  Mr. Colon was charged with Possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating under the influence of an intoxicating drug, possession of Heroin, possession with intent to distribute Heroin.  He has a total bail of $188,000 no 10%.
