On Tuesday, May 3rd 2016 at 0004hrs P.O. Joseph Villone #378 was conducting RADAR enforcement southbound on the Palisades Interstate Parkway at the interchange 2 ramp (Alpine NJ Section) when he observed a white Acura pass him at 105mph. P.O. Villone entered the roadway and activated his warning lights as the Acura continued to speed southbound on the Palisades Parkway. As the vehicle approached 115mph near the Tenafly NJ section, the operator turned off the vehicle’s lights. P.O. Villone continued pursuit, loosing sight of the vehicle at one point and regaining sight as it exited at Exit-1 onto Palisade Ave in Englewood Cliffs.
The vehicle fled westbound on Palisade Ave but was blocked by several vehicles stopped for a red light. P.O. Villone along with 2 Englewood Cliffs’ police officers closed in on the suspect vehicle and conducted a high-risk stop on the occupants. Both occupants were removed and detained. During the investigation it was determined that only the operator, now identified as Mr. Shawn S. Henry a 25 year old black male from Brooklyn NY, would be charged with 2nd Degree Eluding (2C:29-2B) as well as several motor vehicle summonses. The passenger was not charged and later released.
Mr. Henry was transported to the Bergen County Jail on $25,000 bail (with 10% option).
