On Sunday Evening, June 14th, 2015, the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department received a call from the Alpine Police Department advising that a missing person may be in the State Line Lookout. (The State Line Lookout is located in the Alpine NJ Section of the Palisades Interstate Park). Officers responded to the lookout and located a 2013 Ford Focus with matching the description and registration provided by Alpine. Officers from this agency, along with a Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit conducted a canvas of the park area however were hampered by heavy rains and darkness.
The following morning, Monday June 15th, members of this agency as well as a tracking Blood Hound from the Westchester County Police Department and a cadaver dog from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department both conducted additional searches of the Lookout as well as the cliff. Due to on and off rain conditions making the search extremely hazardous, the search was continued into Tuesday with additional K-9 units. Assistance from Wyckoff Police was requested for the use of their Drone however heavy foliage made visibility difficult.
Searches concluded with negative results. The vehicle was turned back over to the registered owner who was not the missing person, and several items belonging to the missing person have been recovered. Those items are being investigated for additional information and leads. This agency is requesting the public’s help in locating the below listed and pictured person. It is believed she is depressed and does not have her prescribed medication in her possession. There is a strong possibility that she continues to be a danger to herself if not located. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department at 201-768-6001 or MissingPersons@PIPPD.org. Case Number: PI-15-13537.
