On Friday, July 10th 2015 at 1625hrs Lt. Jesse Cohen #354 was traveling southbound on the Palisades Interstate Parkway, south of interchange 2 when he observed a black Acura tailgating another vehicle. As he was in an unmarked vehicle, he asked a uniform car, P.O. Gregory Kimbro #368 who was nearby, to make a motor vehicle stop. P.O. Kimbro stopped the vehicle south of the Tenafly NJ Border.
Once stopped, P.O. Kimbro approached the vehicle and asked the operator for his paperwork. Both officers detected an odor of marijuana emenating from within the vehicle. Both (and only two) occupants were asked to exit the vehicle. P.O. Kimbro conducted a search of the operator, Mr. Antonio Sendra, a 24 year old male from Brooklyn NY, and discovered a small zip lock bag containing suspected Cocaine. Mr. Sendra was placed into custody and Mirandized. The passenger, Mr. Dakkarie Garcia, a 21 year old male also from Brooklyn NY, was searched with negative results.
Mr. Sendra subsequently provided consent to search his vehicle. During the search, officers discovered 1 gym bag with 25 plastic containers and 11 vacuum sealed bags of suspected Marijuana located in the trunk. Also in the vehicle was 1 pack cigars, 1 pack of rolling papers, 1 raw rolling machine located in the front arm rest and 1 vacuum sealed bag of suspected Marijuana located behind fuel door next to the gas cap. The approximate total weight of the seized marijuana is a quarter pound.
Mr. Sendra was charged with the following statutes and transported to the Bergen County Jail on $17,000 bail.
