On Sunday, October 20, 2019, The Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department was notified by the Norwood Police Department that a suicidal male party was possibly traveling to the Stateline Lookout in a white 2018 Lexus. Stateline Lookout is in the Alpine, NJ section the Palisades Interstate Park.

Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Officers responded to the Stateline Lookout and located the vehicle and the male party who was still inside. Officers at the scene reported that the male party was unconscious, and the vehicle was locked and in reverse.

After unsuccessful attempts to awaken the driver, the car reversed into the front bumper of a police vehicle which disabled the patrol car. Officers then gained entry into the vehicle and removed the unconscious male from the driver seat. Upon securing the victim, Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Officers immediately began first aid. Officers determined that the victim had overdosed and administered Naloxone. The victim’s vital signs improved, but he remained unconscious. PIPPD Officers continued first aid until the arrival of EMS.

Closter Ambulance and Hackensack Hospital Paramedics transported the victim to Englewood Hospital in serious, but stable condition.

The victim was later identified as a 50-year-old male from Closter, New Jersey.

No police officers or first responders were injured during this incident.
