Fall Victim Fatality

On Thursday, February 8th at approximately 1446hrs the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department responded to Allison Park (located off Hudson Terrace in the Englewood Cliffs NJ Section) for a reported assault victim.  First arriving units found a 77 year old female with severe head trauma sitting in a vehicle parked in the lot.  The female was barely responsive and was unable to recall events.  Initial 9-1-1 calls eluded to a possible assailant however, investigation later revealed that the victim had been walking on the paved trail when she slipped and fell on a patch of ice striking her head on the ground.  She lost consciousness and later made her way to her vehicle where a bystander called 9-1-1.

She was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where she eventually died of her injuries on Sunday, February 25th.  The victim is identified as Ms. Claire Gareau, a 77 year old female from Hewitt NJ.
