
2-4-16 BODY RECOVERY (UPDATED 2-5)
On Thursday, February 4th 2016 at approximately 1115hrs the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a body laying on the shore-line near Ross Dock. (Ross Dock is located within the Fort Lee NJ Section of the Palisades Interstate Park). Officers responded and located a deceased male victim on the south side of the Ross Dock picnic area. Parkway Police Detectives responded as well as the Bergen County Medical Examiner Investigator, Bergen County Sheriff’s Department BCI Unit, and Port Authority Police.
The victim, initially unidentified, is an Asian male approximately 40-50 years of age wearing running clothes and sneakers weighing approximately 190lbs. Investigation shows that no signs of foul play were involved and that the victim had been deceased within the past 24-48 hours. At approximately 1530hrs a tentative identification has been made on the victim through good work done by the Bergen County Sheriff’s BCI Unit in where the fingerprints taken at the scene were matched to someone.
The investigation is ongoing as are possible notifications. This release will be updated when possible.
February 5th Update:
The deceased victim has been positively identified as Mr. Tae W. Kim, a 26 year old resident of Palisades Park NJ. At this time the investigation shows that Mr. Kim’s death was consistent with an elevated fall such as a bridge or overpass into the Hudson River. A cause of death is to be determined however this case is not suspicious.
