
Hiker Rescue
On Saturday, April 14th, 2018 at approximately 2024hrs the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from two (2) hikers stating that they were tired and could no longer walk.They reported their location as being on the Giant Stairs located beneath State Line Lookout in the Alpine NJ Section. Officers attempted to guide the hikers out by phone however they refused to walk and insisted on emergency services responding to remove them.
Officers Anthony Burgos #398, Corey Patullo #407, and Closter EMS/Rescue were dispatched. Crews searched for the hikers until locating them at approximately 2221hrs (approx 2 hours later). Once reached, the hikers were removed over a three (3) hour period to an awaiting NYPD Marine unit who responded on mutual aid to assist. Both victims (listed below), were removed with no injuries.
