
5-17-16 PURSUIT SUSPECT ARREST UPDATED 7-19-16
On Monday, May 16th, 2016 P.O. Michael Griffin #382 was traveling on US Route 9W in the Alpine NJSection when two motorcycles were observed operating in an extremelyunsafe manner. P.O. Griffin activated his lights and sirens and both motorcycles fled almost striking an oncoming car when going through a red light at Closter Dock Road. Prior to losing them, P.O. Griffin was able to obtain a license plate on one of the bikes. The pursuit was terminated due to the current traffic conditions and a subsequent investigation was started to identify the driver.
On Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 Lt. Jesse Cohen #354, Det. Jeffrey Kimbro #371, and P.O. M. Griffin #382 went to the registered owners home in Bergenfield. During their investigation they made contact with the suspected motorcycle operator. Based upon statements and evidence developed during their investigation, Mr. Michael Morales was charged with Eluding. The second motorcycle operator is pending arrest.
Charge: 2C:29-2B Eluding 3rd Degree Crime
Bail set at $12,500 with a 10% option.
Defendant posted bail and was given a court date of May 30, 2016

UPDATED JULY 19TH, 2016:
The Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department has arrested Mr. Bryant Rada, a 24 year old male from West New York, NJ; as the second subject who fled the scene in this case. Mr. Rada was arrested after an investigation was conducted after the arrest of Mr. Morales. Through the use of approved search warrants, evidence was collected from Mr. Morales’ cellular phone which connected Mr. Rada as the second fleeing suspect. He was charged with a 3rd degree 2C:29-2B and was released on his own recognizance. His court date is scheduled for August 1st, 2016.
