5-24-2015 PURSUIT WITH CRASH
On Sunday, May 24th, 2015 at approximately 0900hrs P.O. Martin Clancy #390 was conducting RADAR speed enforcement northbound on the Palisades Interstate Parkway near the Alpine Lookout. During this time, he observed two (2) motorcycles pass him at 92mph. He entered traffic and accelerated to close the gap. Once he reached the motorcycles, he observed them traveling over 90mph and weaving through traffic. P.O. Clancy activated his warning lights and siren in an attempt to stop the motorcycles. One motorcycle, with 2 riders, struck a vehicle in the left lane causing both occupants to fall from the bike and sustain minor, non-life threatening injury. The second motorcycle stopped at the scene but did not strike anything.
P.O. Joseph Villone #378 and Sgt. Fabricio Salazar #362 immediately arrived on the scene to assist. EMS and Paramedics were requested and both operators were placed into custody. The injured operator and his passenger were both transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment and the second operator was transported to the NJ Headquarters for processing.
