6-27-16 PURSUIT AND ARREST

On June 27th, 2016 at approximately 0345hrs P.O. Travis Philhower #397 was conducting RADAR enforcement southbound on the Palisades Interstate Parkway at interchange 2 in the Alpine NJ Section.  During this time, a silver Honda Civic passed at a high rate of speed (100mph).  P.O. Philhower entered the highway and began to close the gap with the Honda.  As P.O. Philhower reached interchange 1 in the Englewood Cliffs NJ Section, he witnessed the vehicle begin to exit onto Palisade Ave.

P.O. Philhower exited the highway and found the Honda stopped at a red light at Route 9W.  As he activated his warning lights the vehicle sped away through the red light and westbound on Palisade Ave.  P.O. Philhower pursued the vehicle through Englewood until it made a right onto Tenafly Rd and then a left onto Liberty Rd.  As it turned onto Liberty Rd, the vehicle struck a pile of residential garbage out for collection and then into a parked car.  After striking the parked car, the vehicle then crossed a sidewalk on the north side of Liberty Rd and into the porch of a home.

P.O. Philhower approached the vehicle and apprehended the subject without incident.  The operator, identified as Mr. Junior Jimenez-Mariano was transported to the NJ Headquarters for processing.  He registered a Blood Alcohol Content reading of %0.028 3 hours after his arrest.  He was charged with several motor vehicle violations as well as DWI and criminally charged with: 2C:29-1A Obstruction of Governmental Function (Disorderly Persons), 2C:29-3b(2) Hindering Apprehension (Disorderly Persons) and 2C:29-2B Eluding (2nd degree).  He has a bail of $40,000.00 with NO 10% option.
