
7-5-2015 PURSUIT / MUTUAL AID
On Sunday, July 5th 2015 at approximately 1545hrs the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department assisted the Englewood Cliffs NJ Police Department during a pursuit. Radio transmissions were received that Englewood Cliffs PD was pursuing a vehicle northbound on US Route 9W for a carjacking / stolen auto incident. Officers responded to the area to assist however during the response, the suspect auto crashed inside the Montamy Country Club on US Route 9-W. During an apprehension attempt, the suspect was able to overtake an Englewood Cliffs Police vehicle which then fled the country club, traveling southbound into Tenafly. Det. Jeffrey Kimbro #371 and P.O. David Moscaritolo #395 (both in the same vehicle) assisted Englewood Cliffs as the stolen police vehicle led them on a pursuit that traveled west on East Clinton Ave and through 5 different towns.
Eventually the pursuit entered Route 4 Westbound and the suspect vehicle crashed into the Dodge dealership in Paramus NJ. Both officers engaged in a foot pursuit along with the other involved agencies. The suspect was apprehended and during the apprehension, P.O. D. Moscaritolo was bitten on the arm by the suspect. During the pursuit, multiple police vehicles were struck by the fleeing suspect.
Also during the pursuit, P.O. Michael Griffin #382 responded to the Montamy Country Club to assist the Englewood Cliffs officer at the original scene. P.O. Griffin remained with the officer while he was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for evaluation. Local PD’s remained at the crime scene. Two additional officers, P.O. Arturo Bellini #391 and P.O. Timothy Conboy #393 were sent at the request of Englewood Cliffs to cover the municipality until the situation stabilized. No other incidents or injuries were reported during the incidents.
