Child Passenger Safety

The Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department now offers the public the ability to have child safety seats installed or inspected by officers who are certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. Several of our officers undergo a 32 hour classroom and practical course sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Once completed, officers are able to assisted the public with ensuring that their children are properly secured in a variety of passenger vehicles.

Child safety seat checkpoints routinely discover that eight out of ten children are not properly restrained in appropriate child safety seats or belt systems. Improper installation of child safety seats and/or misuse of the seats are the most common problems found. We encourage members of the public to schedule either an installation of a new or used seat or an inspection of a seat you already have installed. Please contact our certified technicians at: or by calling 201-768-6001.

Our Current Child Passenger Safety Technicians are Sgt. Raymond Walter #367 and P.O. Dana Eustace #389.
