Authorized Services
Only authorized tow services who are under contract with the Palisades Interstate Park Commission are allowed to service and tow vehicles within this jurisdiction. Any tow service who is not contracted by this agency or the Commission are not allowed onto the Palisades Parkway, Park areas, or other roadways in either the New Jersey or New York sections.
AAA, Motor Clubs, Private Services
Many motorists have service contracts of their own which may be provided through their insurance company, credit card, or vehicle warranty. These services are not allowed on the Palisades Parkway, Park areas, or other roadways in either New Jersey or New York Sections. However, because the police department is providing service, many motorists have success submitting their service receipt to their own provider who later reimburses them.Contracted Park Commission tow services do accept AAA members however please be advised of the following restrictions:
- Members must have a valid card in their possession which may be verified through AAA directly.
- Contracted tow services can only tow motorists off of Commission property however another AAA tow service must respond to your new location and tow you to a final destination.
- BCL Towing is a valid AAA garage and not subject to the restrictions of #2 however, they are subject to a rotational list and may not be the next available service center.
Contracted Service Centers

Impounds
Contracted service centers are not allowed to release impounded vehicles until authorized by the Police Department. An impounded vehicle is one in which is towed by police authority for causes such as uninsured, suspended registration, expired registration, multiple suspended operations, or certain investigatory purposes.
To have a vehicle released, first the owner must clear the cause of suspension. This also includes checking with your state’s motor vehicle commission/division to ensure that any suspensions have been lifted even after you have paid for insurance or a ticket/summons. Once your vehicle is valid, the Police Department can only release the vehicle to the owner. The owner will need to bring identification, proof of ownership in the form of a registration/title, the impound form (yellow copy), and proof of validity.
